Giant Atlas moth emerging from it's chrysalis |
Adult Atlas drying her wings |
BUTTERFLY
Delicate
wings - iridescent bright
Shimmer
as I dance
Among
the nectar
The
sweetness a high
Wings
not even dry yet
All
beauty and joy
But
did you see me
Covered
and protected
Silent
and still
As
I processed the change
Or
maybe you saw me
Eat
and eat - just a fat worm
Or
did you see me
Alone
on a leaf
No
one knew then-the beauty within
Try
to catch me
I'll
test my newly discovered
Evasive
maneuvers
So
soft and beautiful
Capture
me and I'll die
But
is there hidden poison
You'll
never know till it's too late
Leave
me free to transform
Again
and again
Just
a shimmer of light
