July  2000

We are visiting Ilwaco Washington, the site of one of the finest  sport fishing ports on the West  Coast.
This is the Summer home for the Ghost Rider when she is available for chartering.

Ghost Rider at sun up waiting for her
crew and guests to arrive.

This is the Ghost Rider's  skipper (my brother in law) and owner, Lowell Marsh, taking us for a morning of fishing for Columbia River Sturgeon.
Rusty, our great deck hand, is behind the Skipper keeping
an eye out for traffic.

Join us and meet the crew and our morning catch.

Leaving the quiet port of Ilwaco Washington.

Under the Astoria bridge and east up the Columbia to find the Sturgeon.

A guest working his catch with Rusty ready
to bring it on board.

The catch is landed as the Skipper
looks on .

With our limit on board, it's time to head back to port.

Some of us are going to have fresh Sturgeon tonight.
Some of the fish is going into the smoker.

Washing down the deck as again we travel under the
bridge linking Washington and Oregon.

Rusty feeding the remaining bait
to the birds.

Returning to port we pass this rusting
relick.  Wonder the stories it could
tell of her fishing days.

Rusty looks on as the photographer
tries to steal half of my fish. Honestly!
it was a foot longer??

I guess I can't say enough about the fun of fishing.
Ya gotta just go and try it.

At times you wait and wait then all **** breaks loose.
It could be just one of us with a hookup but It's a mad house if three or four are hooked up at the same time.

It's a scramble to keep the lines from getting tangled.  That's Rusty's expertise, keeping lines free.

Thanks, Skipper and Rusty,  for a great time.
